In 1954, the two full-sized wooden chariots were discovered, dismantled and buried in pits near the Great Pyramid of Giza, Egypt, two covered pits at the southern base of the Pyramid of Khufu. At the bottom of one of them, a dismantled ship was found, beautifully carved from cedar wood. The number of parts of the ship was 1,224 pieces, with no part missing. Including five pairs of oars, two steering fins and a cabin. The myth of Ra tells that he becomes a child at sunrise (Khepri), then a complete man at noon (Ra), and rises as an old man in the evening (Atum). He rides two boats – according to the belief of the Pharaohs – which are the boats of Ra, which is the disk of the sun, and he crosses the day as he rises in the sky. Then he disappears from sight at sunset and begins his journey on the heavenly sea during the night.
